Strawberry Game Double Fawlt

Ingredients used in Strawberry Game Double Fawlt

  • Melton Mowbray pork pie
  • strawberries
  • can of royal game soup
  • bottle of Blue Nun white wine
  • raspberry fruit flakes
  • cocktail sausages
  • fresh basil

Sausage-stuffed strawberries add a certain je ne sais qoui to Strawberry Game Double Fawlt

Pour the wine into a pan and add the raspberry fruit flakes. Bring to the boil and allow to simmer and reduce. On a chopping board, core the strawberries with a potato peeler and stuff them with the cocktail sausages. Cut the top off the pork pie and carefully scoop out the meat. Be careful not to damage the pork pie case and place this in the centre of a serving plate. Remove the pan from the heat and allow to cool. In the meantime arrange the stuffed strawberries around the pork pie case, and fill the gaps between with fresh basil leaves. Mix the pork pie meat with the raspberry wine reduction and gently knead into balls. Arrange these on the basil leaves. FInally pour the game soup into the pork pie casing and serve.

Al: "I always take my cheffing seriously" (as he empties a packet of fruit flakes into a saucepan of Blue Nun)

Bruce: "Few chefs would dare to combine soup of any flavour with strawberries, let alone game soup - but Chef Al is undeterred."

Andy: "It looks quite rude. I fear Rocket to Jamaica has set a standard Chef Al needs to live down to."

Kath: "I do like the way he drizzles."
